VisitLions Win 10th Straight, Beat Bears 23-20; Eberflus Blasted for Clock Mismanagement
Nov 28, 2024, 09:02 PM
On Thanksgiving Day, the Detroit Lions defeated the Chicago Bears 23-20, securing their first Thanksgiving win since 2016 and improving to an 11-1 record for the first time in franchise history. The Lions have now won 10 consecutive games. Jared Goff, named the Madden Thanksgiving MVP, threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns, both caught by rookie tight end Sam LaPorta. Despite the Bears' rookie quarterback Caleb Williams leading three second-half touchdown drives, Chicago's offense faltered in the final moments. Reaching the Lions' 25-yard line with a chance to tie the game with a field goal, the Bears failed to use their final timeout after a sack, allowing the clock to run out. Head coach Matt Eberflus faced widespread criticism for the poor clock management and not assisting his rookie quarterback during the critical moments. The Bears have now lost three consecutive games, further intensifying calls for Eberflus to be fired.
