At least 86 people were killed and 55 injured when a petrol tanker exploded on Saturday in the Dikko Junction area of Niger State, northern Nigeria. The tanker had overturned, spilling fuel, and a crowd had gathered to collect the leaking petrol when it ignited. Among the victims were a pregnant woman and many children. The Federal Road Safety Corps confirmed the death toll, and the Federal Government expressed condolences to the state and victims.
