The incident took place when a passenger jet, reportedly operated by Jeju Air, experienced malfunctioning landing gear, causing it to veer off the runway, collide with a concrete fence, and erupt in flames. The aircraft was carrying a total of 181 individuals, including 175 passengers and six crew members. Emergency officials have reported that two crew members were rescued from the wreckage and transported to a hospital.
