Le Monde Halts X Publishing Over 'Growing Toxicity,' Citing Musk's Activism and Trump Alliance

Le Monde, a leading French newspaper, has announced its decision to cease publishing content on the social media platform X, citing the 'growing toxicity' of the platform since its acquisition by Elon Musk. The move comes in response to what the newspaper describes as an 'intensification of activism' by Musk and the 'increasing toxicity of exchanges' on X. Le Monde's editor-in-chief, Jérôme Fenoglio, stated that the decision was influenced by the alliance between Donald Trump and social media platform owners like Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, which he believes poses a 'global threat to free access to reliable information.' The newspaper has recommended that its journalists also stop sharing content on X and will increase vigilance on other platforms such as TikTok and those owned by Meta.
