VisitLargest Salmonella Outbreak in Decade Linked to California Raw Milk; 165 Sickened, 40% Children
Jul 11, 2024, 03:30 PM
A significant salmonella outbreak has been linked to raw milk products from Raw Farm (formerly Organic Pastures) in Fresno, California. As of February, at least 165 people have been sickened, making it the largest reported salmonella outbreak tied to raw milk in the U.S. in the past decade. The outbreak has affected individuals in four states, with nearly 40% of the victims being children. Raw Farm has a history of being associated with outbreaks or recalls related to Salmonella, Campylobacter, and Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli bacteria. A mother is suing Raw Farm after she and her three children contracted salmonella, with her six-year-old being hospitalized. The outbreak has also raised concerns over bird flu.
