VisitLarge Fire in Ternopil After Russian Shahed Drone Attack, Pollution Levels Rise
Aug 20, 2024, 07:11 AM
A large fire broke out in Ternopil, a city in western Ukraine, following a Russian night attack involving Shahed drones. The incident targeted an industrial facility, specifically an oil depot and a fuel and lubricants warehouse, where thermal anomalies were recorded. The fire, which remains unextinguished, has led to a significant increase in air pollution, with harmful substances exceeding the annual norm by 3.1 times. Local officials, including the mayor, have urged residents to stay indoors and keep windows closed due to the smoke and pollution. Fortunately, there have been no reported casualties. Specialists are currently analyzing water and air samples to assess the environmental impact.
