VisitLando Norris Wins Abu Dhabi GP as McLaren Ends 26-Year Wait for Ninth Constructors' Title
Dec 8, 2024, 02:37 PM
Lando Norris secured his fourth career victory at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, ensuring McLaren's first Constructors' Championship since 1998 and their ninth overall. Norris held off Ferrari's Carlos Sainz, who finished second in his final race with the team, and Charles Leclerc, who impressively moved from 19th on the grid to third, earning 'Driver of the Day' honors. McLaren's Oscar Piastri contributed with a tenth-place finish. The victory marks McLaren's first Constructors' title of the 21st century, ending a 26-year wait during which neither Norris nor Piastri were born when the team last won. Despite strong performances from Ferrari, McLaren topped the Constructors' standings.
