VisitLandmine Explosions Kill or Injure Dozens of North Korean Soldiers in DMZ Incursion
Jun 18, 2024, 06:04 AM
Several North Korean soldiers have been killed or injured by landmine explosions in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) that divides the Koreas. The incidents occurred as North Korean troops were reportedly clearing land and conducting mine-related operations in the heavily fortified area. The South Korean military confirmed the casualties and noted that the North has been sending troops to the DMZ for months. The explosions happened just hours before a scheduled meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Dozens of soldiers were involved in the incursion, which included live fire and fortification work.
