VisitLakers Finalizing Deal to Hire JJ Redick as Head Coach Despite No Prior Experience
Jun 6, 2024, 12:06 PM
The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly finalizing a deal to make JJ Redick their next head coach, according to multiple sources including Shams Charania. Redick, who played for Duke under Mike Krzyzewski from 2002 to 2006, has emerged as the frontrunner after the firing of Darvin Ham. Redick had a 15-year career as a player and has since worked as an analyst and podcaster. The Lakers have also discussed a potential coaching staff that includes James Borrego, Scott Brooks, Sam Cassell, Jared Dudley, Greg St. Jean, and Rajon Rondo. While Redick has no prior coaching experience, his competitive nature and attention to detail have impressed the Lakers' management. However, there are still other candidates in consideration, and the deal is not yet finalized.
