VisitKyle Larson Nears Historic Win at Bristol with Over 328 Laps Led in Final 100 Laps
Sep 22, 2024, 01:42 AM
Kyle Larson is on the verge of a historic performance at the Bristol Motor Speedway in the NASCAR Cup Series. Larson has already led 328 laps, surpassing his previous best of 327 laps in a single race, achieved at the 2021 Coca-Cola 600. If he continues to lead until the end, he will have led 462 laps, marking the fourth-most laps led by a Bristol winner in history and the most since Cale Yarborough led 495 of 500 laps in 1977. Larson's dominant performance has seen him lead 267 of the first 304 laps and he is closing in on leading over 1,000 laps at Bristol in his career. The race is now down to the final 100 laps. Notably, the last time a driver led 400 laps or more in a Bristol Cup race was Kyle Busch in the 2008 Night Race, where he finished second to Carl Edwards.
