Kolkata Police Enforce 7-Day Ban Under Section 163 Amid Doctor's Rape-Murder Protests

The Kolkata Police have imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, around R G Kar Medical College and Hospital. This measure, effective for seven days starting August 18, aims to prevent unlawful assembly amid protests over the rape and murder of a trainee doctor. The government has also revoked the transfer order of 42 doctors in response to the situation.
