The No. 10 Kentucky Wildcats defeated the previously unbeaten No. 6 Florida Gators 106-100 at Rupp Arena in their SEC opener, handing Florida their first loss of the season. Led by head coach Mark Pope, Kentucky overcame an early 11-point deficit with a 16-0 run and scored 37 points in the final 11 minutes of the first half to lead 52-42 at halftime. Koby Brea came off the bench to score a career-high 23 points, hitting seven three-pointers. Andrew Carr hit a clutch three-pointer late in the game to secure the victory. Despite 29 points from Walter Clayton Jr. and 23 points from Elijah Martin, the Gators could not overcome Kentucky's offensive surge. The Wildcats improved to 12-2 overall and 1-0 in SEC play, adding this win to earlier victories over Duke and Gonzaga.
