VisitKings Fire Coach of Year Mike Brown After 13-18 Start, Five-Game Losing Streak
Dec 27, 2024, 10:05 PM
The Sacramento Kings have fired head coach Mike Brown amid a disappointing 13-18 start to the NBA season, according to multiple reports from ESPN and The Athletic. Brown, who signed a three-year, $30 million contract extension through 2027 in June, was dismissed just over six months later. Under his leadership, the Kings ended a 17-year playoff drought last season, making their first postseason appearance since 2006, and he was named the first-ever unanimous NBA Coach of the Year in 2023. The Kings are currently in the midst of a five-game losing streak, all at home, and have lost 12 of their last 17 games, placing them 12th in the Western Conference. The team has also lost an NBA-high 13 clutch-time games this season. Brown was fired shortly after leading a practice and speaking to the media, and before the team's flight to Los Angeles.
