VisitKenya's Parliament Approves Interior Minister Kithure Kindiki as Third Deputy President After Gachagua's Impeachment on Graft Charges

Kenyan President William Ruto has nominated Interior Minister Kithure Kindiki to replace the impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who was removed from office on graft charges. The National Assembly received the nomination and, during a special session, unanimously approved Kindiki's appointment with 236 votes in favor. Kindiki, a professor of law and former lawyer for President Ruto, is set to become the third Deputy President since the promulgation of the 2010 Constitution and will be sworn in following parliamentary approval.
