VisitKenya Confirms Second Mpox Case in Ugandan Driver, Begins Vaccination in Busia
Aug 23, 2024, 10:51 AM
Kenya is set to begin Mpox vaccinations following the confirmation of a second case of the disease. The second case was identified in a Ugandan truck driver at the Malaba border in Busia County. The Ministry of Health has tested 42 samples so far. Health Cabinet Secretary Barasa reported that 426,438 travelers have been screened at ports of entry to prevent further spread. The second confirmed case highlights the presence of a deadlier variant of Mpox outside Africa. The vaccination initiative is part of Kenya's HealthyNation campaign, announced on August 21, 2024.
