Letcher County Sheriff Mickey Stines, 43, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder after fatally shooting District Judge Kevin Mullins inside his courthouse chambers in Whitesburg, Kentucky. The incident occurred following an argument between the sheriff and the judge. Sheriff Stines shot Judge Mullins multiple times. The fatal shooting has been confirmed by Kentucky State Police and Governor Andy Beshear. Local schools were placed on lockdown as a precaution. Sheriff Stines was taken into custody without incident at the scene and has been charged with one count of murder.
