Letcher County Sheriff Mickey Stines, 43, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder after allegedly shooting and killing District Judge Kevin Mullins inside his courthouse chambers in Whitesburg, Kentucky. The incident occurred following an argument between the sheriff and the judge. Governor Andy Beshear confirmed the death and expressed his condolences. Local schools were placed on lockdown as a precaution. Stines, a registered Democrat, was taken into custody at the scene without incident. The Kentucky State Police are leading the investigation.
