May 19, 2024, 03:35 AM
Kaylee Bryson has made history by becoming the first woman to win a USAC national championship race. Bryson achieved this milestone by winning the USAC Silver Crown race at Belleville for Sam Pierce Racing. Earlier in the day, she also became the first woman to earn the pole position for a USAC Silver Crown event, clocking in at 17.264 seconds at Belleville High Banks. This marks the first time in the 54-year history of the series that a woman has won the pole. During the race, Bryson held off CJ Leary, who moved up from 24th to finish in second place. Brady Bacon, who had been leading with a 15-second advantage, suffered an engine failure 15 laps into the race.
