VisitKatie Ledecky Wins Silver with Team USA, Becomes Most Decorated Female U.S. Olympian
Aug 1, 2024, 08:56 PM
Katie Ledecky has become the most decorated female U.S. Olympian in history after winning a silver medal with Team USA in the women's 4x200-meter freestyle relay at the 2024 Paris Olympics. This achievement marks her 13th Olympic medal, surpassing the previous record held by female swimmers Jenny Thompson, Dara Torres, and Natalie Coughlin, who each had 12 medals. Ledecky now holds the record for the most Olympic medals won by a female swimmer and the most by any U.S. woman in any sport. She still has the 800-meter freestyle event left to compete in on Saturday, where she is the three-time defending champion.
