VisitKarnataka Hikes Petrol, Diesel Prices by Rs 3 per Litre Effective June 15
Jun 15, 2024, 11:36 AM
The Karnataka government has announced an increase in petrol and diesel prices by approximately Rs 3 per litre, effective June 15. The hike is a result of the state revising its sales tax on fuel, with the tax on petrol increasing from 25.92% to 29.84% and on diesel from 14.3% to 18.4%. This revision is expected to generate around Rs 2700 crore annually for the state. Despite the increase, the government claims that fuel prices in Karnataka remain lower than in neighboring states. Petrol prices are expected to rise by Rs 3.02 to ₹103.84 per litre, and diesel prices by Rs 3.05 to ₹88.93 per litre.
