VisitKarnataka HC Grants Temporary Relief to BS Yediyurappa, Directs Appearance on June 17 in POCSO Case
Jun 15, 2024, 03:00 AM
Former Karnataka Chief Minister and senior BJP leader B.S. Yediyurappa is embroiled in a POCSO case. A non-bailable warrant has been issued against him, and he is accused of destroying evidence and potentially influencing eyewitnesses, as claimed by the CID. Yediyurappa's legal team has approached the High Court, seeking anticipatory bail and the quashing of the POCSO case, challenging the actions of the investigating agencies as malafide. The Karnataka High Court has directed Yediyurappa to appear before the investigating officer on June 17 while restraining the CID from arresting or detaining him until then, providing him temporary relief. Yediyurappa, who was in Delhi, has returned to Bengaluru and maintains that he will comply with the court's directive. His son, BY Raghavendra, and former Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai have alleged that the case is a political conspiracy. Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah has stated that the law will not interfere with the police's work.
