The Karnataka transport department has initiated a crackdown on bike taxis in Bengaluru following a protest by auto and taxi drivers demanding a ban on bike-taxis. On July 4, auto and taxi drivers staged a protest, which led to the transport department's action. Subsequently, on July 5, the Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) seized 133 vehicles, including 29 electric bike taxis. The crackdown aims to address the illegal operations of bike taxis in the city.
