VisitJustice Ketanji Brown Jackson Fulfills Dream with Broadway Debut in '& Juliet'
Dec 16, 2024, 03:52 PM
Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson made her Broadway debut with a speaking role in the musical '& Juliet' on Saturday, fulfilling a lifelong dream she shared in her memoir 'Lovely One'. Jackson, the first Black woman to sit on the Supreme Court and raised in Miami, appeared in the production, which is a modern, queer retelling of Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet' featuring a non-binary character named May, Juliet's best friend. Following her performance, Jackson exclaimed, 'I did it, I made it to Broadway.' She also participated in a talkback session with the audience. Her appearance marks the first time a sitting Supreme Court Justice has performed on a Broadway stage.
