June 2024 was the hottest month on record, marking the 13th consecutive month of record-breaking global temperatures, according to the EU climate monitor Copernicus. The global temperature was 1.5 degrees Celsius warmer than pre-industrial levels for the 12th straight month. Additionally, the world's oceans, covering more than two-thirds of Earth's surface, experienced their 15th consecutive month of record heat.
