VisitJune 2024 Breaks Record as Hottest Month Ever for 13th Straight Month
Jul 8, 2024, 02:40 AM
June 2024 was the hottest month on record, marking the 13th consecutive month of record-breaking global temperatures, according to the EU climate monitor Copernicus. The global temperature was 1.5 degrees Celsius warmer than pre-industrial levels for the 12th straight month. Additionally, the world's oceans, covering more than two-thirds of Earth's surface, experienced their 15th consecutive month of record heat. This persistent warming trend is largely attributed to greenhouse gases emitted from the burning of coal, oil, and natural gas. June's temperature beat the 2023 high.
