VisitJudge Holds Rudy Giuliani in Contempt Over $148 Million Judgment to Georgia Election Workers
Jan 6, 2025, 08:50 PM
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has been found in contempt of court by a federal judge in New York for failing to turn over assets to satisfy a $148 million defamation judgment awarded to two Georgia election workers, Ruby Freeman and Wandrea 'Shaye' Moss. Giuliani defamed the election workers by falsely accusing them of helping to steal the 2020 presidential election in Georgia. Despite court orders, Giuliani has not surrendered assets, including a $3.5 million Palm Beach condo and valuable memorabilia such as a signed Joe DiMaggio Yankees jersey, which he claims is missing. Giuliani, who testified via video call and claimed he is 'broke,' has handed over a Mercedes and his New York apartment but failed to comply fully with defamation judgment requests. Judge Liman imposed sanctions against Giuliani, including an adverse inference that evidence he failed to disclose would have harmed his defense, moving the election workers closer to obtaining his Palm Beach condo.
