VisitJudge Denies Diddy's Third Bail Request in Sex Trafficking Case, Citing Witness Tampering Risk
Nov 27, 2024, 11:12 PM
Sean 'Diddy' Combs, the music mogul facing charges of racketeering, sex trafficking by force, and transportation to engage in prostitution, was denied bail for the third time on Wednesday. U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian ruled that Combs poses a 'serious risk' of witness tampering and a danger to the community, concluding that 'no condition or combination of conditions will reasonably assure the safety of the community.' Combs has been accused of violating jail regulations by using other inmates' phone access codes to communicate with third parties while incarcerated. Prosecutors cited a 'decades-long pattern of violence,' including alleged physical abuse of his personal staff, to support their argument against bail. Despite his defense team's proposed $50 million bail package and home confinement at a New York City apartment, the judge found clear and convincing evidence to deny the request. This marks the third time Combs has been denied bail by three different judges. Combs has been detained since his arrest on September 16 and will remain in custody awaiting his trial scheduled for May 2025.
