VisitJets Fire Head Coach Robert Saleh, Name Jeff Ulbrich Interim
Oct 8, 2024, 03:42 PM
The New York Jets have fired head coach Robert Saleh following a disappointing start to the season, including a recent loss in London. Saleh, who had a record of 20-36 with the Jets, was informed of the decision by team owner Woody Johnson on Tuesday morning. Despite speculation, Johnson stated that quarterback Aaron Rodgers had no influence on the decision, although the two had spoken the previous night. Saleh was reportedly blindsided by the firing, which came shortly after he decided to demote offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett from play-calling duties. Jeff Ulbrich, the team's defensive coordinator, has been named the interim head coach. Johnson expressed confidence in Ulbrich's ability to lead the team and emphasized the talent on the roster. The Jets have no plans to part ways with Hackett despite the offensive struggles. Saleh had a 7-10 record last season and the team started this year 2-3. This marks the first time Johnson has fired a coach mid-season.
