VisitJeju Air Plane from Bangkok Crashes at Muan Airport; At Least 120 Dead

A Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 carrying 175 passengers and six crew members crashed upon landing at South Korea's Muan International Airport on Sunday around 9 am local time, killing at least 120 people, according to local fire officials cited by Yonhap News Agency and the Associated Press. The aircraft, arriving from Bangkok, Thailand, veered off the runway after a malfunction of its landing gear, collided with a wall, and burst into flames. The passengers included 173 South Koreans and two Thai nationals. Emergency services are conducting rescue operations, with only two people reportedly rescued so far. The death toll has steadily risen from initial reports of 28 fatalities as authorities continue to assess the situation.
