U.S. Vice President-elect JD Vance met with Chinese Vice President Han Zheng in Washington on Sunday, ahead of President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration on Monday. The meeting covered a range of topics including fentanyl, trade balance, and regional stability, according to a statement from the Trump-Vance transition team. Han Zheng, who conveyed greetings from President Xi Jinping and congratulated Vance on his election, is attending the inauguration as Xi's representative. Xi was invited by Trump but chose to send Han in his stead. This meeting follows a recent phone call between Trump and Xi, where they discussed issues such as TikTok, trade, and Taiwan. Han also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, welcoming Tesla and other U.S. companies to invest in China to promote economic relations between the two nations. Trump has expressed interest in visiting China after taking office, which would be his second visit as president.
