VisitJasmine Paolini Advances to First Wimbledon Quarterfinal as Madison Keys Retires Due to Injury at 6-3, 6-7(6), 5-5
Jul 7, 2024, 02:33 PM
Jasmine Paolini has reached her first Wimbledon quarterfinal after Madison Keys retired due to injury. The match ended with Paolini advancing at 6-3, 6-7(6), 5-5. Keys, who was leading 5-2 in the third set, struggled with a leg injury and was unable to continue. This marks a significant milestone for Paolini, who had never won a match at Wimbledon prior to this year. Additionally, Paolini, the No. 7 seed, becomes the first Italian in the Open Era to reach the Women's Singles quarter-final at both Wimbledon and Roland Garros in the same season. Paolini has also had an incredible season, being the Dubai champion and Roland Garros runner-up.
