VisitJared Porter Addresses January 2021 Firing from Mets After Sending Explicit Texts, Lasting 38 Days as GM
Nov 30, 2024, 07:37 PM
Jared Porter, the former general manager of the New York Mets, has publicly addressed his firing for the first time since the incident. In January 2021, the Mets terminated Porter within hours of an ESPN report that revealed he had sent numerous inappropriate text messages to a female journalist. Porter acknowledged that he sent an inappropriate text message while he was an executive with the Chicago Cubs in 2016, which ultimately led to his dismissal from the Mets after just 38 days in the role. The firing was a response to the detailed allegations of sexually explicit and uninvited communications he had made towards a reporter.
