VisitJapan's PM Ishiba Postpones US Visit to February 2025 for Summit with Trump
Dec 30, 2024, 02:14 PM
Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba has decided to postpone his planned visit to the United States in January to meet with President-elect Donald Trump. Instead, Ishiba is now aiming to visit Washington for a summit meeting with Trump as early as February 2025, following Trump's inauguration on January 20, 2025. This decision comes after discussions with Trump's team, who had initially proposed a meeting in mid-January. The Japanese government believes that a formal summit after Trump's inauguration would be more productive for discussing and confirming the ties between Japan and the U.S.
