Japan Protests First Recorded Chinese Airspace Breach, Scrambles Jets

Japan has lodged a strong protest against China after a Chinese military aircraft breached its airspace on Monday. According to the Japan Defence Ministry, this incident marks the first time on record that a Chinese military aircraft has entered Japan's actual airspace, rather than just its Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ). In response to the breach, Japan scrambled fighter jets to intercept the Chinese reconnaissance plane. The incident has been reported by Kyodo and confirmed by the Japan Defence Ministry.
