Jun 10, 2024, 11:01 AM
Jannik Sinner has officially become the new ATP World No. 1, marking a historic milestone as the first Italian to achieve this ranking in either ATP or WTA history. Sinner, 22, has had an impressive season with a 33-3 record in 2024, including victories at the Australian Open, Miami, and Rotterdam, and reaching the semifinals at Roland Garros, Indian Wells, and Monte-Carlo. He is also the 2023 Davis Cup champion and has a 53-5 record since the US Open. Sinner surpasses Carlos Alcaraz, who moves to No. 2 following his French Open victory, and Novak Djokovic, who is now ranked No. 3. Sinner, the 29th man to reach the summit of the world rankings, was presented with the No. 1 trophy by ATP Tour Chairman Andrea Gaudenzi at the Monte-Carlo Country Club.
