Oct 8, 2024, 02:32 PM
James Cleverly has emerged as the frontrunner in the Conservative Party leadership contest after securing the highest number of votes in the third round of MPs' ballots. Cleverly received 39 votes, a significant increase of 18 from the previous round. Robert Jenrick and Kemi Badenoch followed with 31 (-2) and 30 (+2) votes respectively. Tom Tugendhat was eliminated from the race after receiving 20 (-1) votes. The contest now moves to a crucial phase where Cleverly will likely face either Jenrick or Badenoch in the final round of MP voting before the final two candidates are presented to the Tory party members.
