VisitJalen Green Signs Unprecedented $106 Million Extension with Player Option
Oct 21, 2024, 07:55 PM
Jalen Green and the Houston Rockets have agreed to a three-year, $106 million rookie contract extension that includes a player option in the third year. Green will earn $33.5 million in the first year of the deal. This unprecedented agreement makes Green the first NBA player to secure a 2-plus-1 nine-figure rookie extension. The inclusion of a player option is rare in rookie extensions, especially in contracts exceeding $30 million per year—the last instances being Luka Doncic and Trae Young. Green, who became the first NBA G League Ignite signing in 2020, is positioned to potentially increase his career earning potential and could become a free agent at age 25.
