VisitJakob Ingebrigtsen Sets 3000m World Record in 7:17.55, Breaking Komen's Mark
Aug 25, 2024, 02:28 PM
Jakob Ingebrigtsen set a new world record in the men's 3000m at the Diamond League event in Silesia, Poland, with a time of 7:17.55. This remarkable performance broke the previous record of 7:20.67, which was set by Daniel Komen in 1996. Ingebrigtsen's achievement makes him the first athlete to run the 3000m in under 7:20. He also secured a $50,000 bonus for this record-breaking feat. Earlier in the week, Ingebrigtsen won the men's 1500m at the Lausanne Diamond League, defeating Olympic champion Cole Hocker. Hocker finished second, followed by fellow American Hobbs Kessler in third place.
