May 30, 2024, 11:04 PM
Jaccob Slavin of the Carolina Hurricanes has been awarded the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy for the 2023-24 NHL season. This marks the second time Slavin has won the award, having previously received it in 2020-21. The Lady Byng Trophy is given to the player who best exemplifies sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability. Slavin was named in the top two on more than half of the ballots and is only the second defenseman and second U.S.-born player to win the award multiple times. Elias Pettersson of the Vancouver Canucks was the runner-up, while other notable players receiving votes included Kyle Connor, Sean Monahan, Winnipegger Seth Jarvis, and Ryan O'Reilly, who received 25 points including one second place vote.
