VisitITBP Seizes 108 kg Gold, Arrests Two in Southern Sub Sector Near China Border

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP) arrested two individuals and seized 108 gold bars weighing 108.060 kilograms on July 9 near the India-China border in the Southern Sub Sector of Eastern Ladakh. The suspects were apprehended during a Long Range Patrolling operation in the general area of Chismule, Narbula top, Zakle, and Zakla. The gold, valued at several crores of rupees, was being smuggled from China. The operation was led by Deputy Commandant Deepak Bhatt from the 21 Battalion. The suspects were caught after attempting to flee towards the boundary when approached by ITBP personnel. The arrests took place in the Nyoma sector of Leh district, with gold also found in a tent in Koyul village. IG ITBP Clay Khongsai confirmed the details of the operation.
