She denied having any personal discussions with Musk about the potential deal, which has been reported to be worth €1.5 billion and aimed at building Europe's largest encrypted communications system. The project has sparked controversy, with opposition parties questioning the security implications of relying on a private entity for such critical infrastructure. Meloni stressed that the government's primary concern is national interest, and there are currently no public alternatives to the technology offered by SpaceX.
