Oct 11, 2024, 07:18 AM
Israeli military actions have escalated tensions in Lebanon, resulting in multiple incidents involving the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). According to Reuters, Israeli troops fired at three UNIFIL positions in southern Lebanon, causing injuries to peacekeepers. Two peacekeepers were hospitalized after falling from a watchtower struck by an Israeli tank at the UNIFIL headquarters. Additionally, the Israeli military reportedly disabled UN security cameras and repeatedly hit UNIFIL positions as clashes with Hezbollah continued. In a separate incident, a major Israeli airstrike targeted the Noueiri district in central Beirut, killing at least 22 people and injuring 117 others. The strike aimed at Wafiq Safa, a senior Hezbollah official, who survived the assassination attempt. The Lebanese health ministry confirmed the casualties and 48 injuries from the airstrike.
