VisitIsraeli Navy's Shayetet 3 Intercepts Hezbollah Drone in Economic Waters Targeting Karish Gas Field
Jul 27, 2024, 07:57 AM
The Israeli Air Force (IAF) is shifting its focus to air-to-air interceptions of Hezbollah suicide drones, moving away from ground-to-air defense systems like Iron Dome, which have been evaded by the drones. Recently, an unnamed ship from the Israeli Navy's Shayetet 3 missile ship fleet, in cooperation with the air force, successfully intercepted a one-way aerial attack UAV that entered Israeli economic waters from Lebanese territory. The interception occurred off the coast of northwestern Israel. The intercepted drone, launched by Hezbollah, was believed to be targeting the Karish Gas Field, a major strategic asset for Israel. This marks a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
