VisitIsraeli Military Orders Evacuations in Southern Lebanon and Beirut Amid Hezbollah Tensions
Oct 3, 2024, 10:12 AM
The Israeli military has issued multiple evacuation orders for residents in southern Lebanon and parts of Beirut amid escalating tensions with Hezbollah. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have called for the evacuation of over 70 towns and villages in southern Lebanon, including Nabatieh, one of the largest cities in the region. The IDF's Arabic-language spokesman, Colonel Avichay Adraee, emphasized that Hezbollah's activities necessitate these actions and urged civilians to move north of the Awali River and the Litani River. Additionally, residents in the southern suburbs of Beirut, such as Haret Hreik, Burj al-Barajneh, and Hadath, have been instructed to evacuate due to their proximity to Hezbollah facilities. The IDF has stressed that any southward movement could put residents in danger, and the evacuation orders come as Israeli airstrikes continue to target Hezbollah positions. The orders follow the recent launch of ground operations.
