Israeli security services have arrested two Israeli citizens from Ramat Gan, suspected of being recruited by Iranian intelligence to plan the assassination of a senior Israeli public figure. The Shin Bet, Israel's internal security service, and the police's Lahav 433 unit foiled the Iranian-backed plot, exposing an intelligence cell operating within the country. The couple allegedly conspired to carry out sabotage acts and expressed a desire to eliminate a high-ranking official in exchange for money. They have been charged with aiding Iran, including plotting to assassinate a public figure.
