VisitIsraeli Airstrikes Kill 40, Injure 60 in Khan Younis Tent Camp
Sep 10, 2024, 02:18 AM
Israeli airstrikes have targeted a tent camp for displaced Palestinians in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, southern Gaza. The strikes, which involved at least five missiles, resulted in the destruction of over 20 tents, leaving deep craters and burying many people under the sand. Initial reports indicate that at least 40 people were killed and more than 60 were injured. Civil defense teams and locals are continuing search operations to recover bodies and rescue the injured. The area, previously designated as a 'safe zone' by Israeli authorities, was home to a large population of displaced Palestinians, including 80,000 people. The Israeli military claimed the strikes targeted a Hamas command center in the camp. Some reports mentioned the use of 2000-pound bombs.
