VisitIsraeli Airstrikes in Gaza Kill 40, Injure 60 in Humanitarian Zone
Sep 10, 2024, 12:35 AM
Israeli airstrikes have resulted in significant casualties in Gaza, particularly targeting areas designated as humanitarian zones. On September 9, 2024, Israeli warplanes bombed a tent encampment in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, which was sheltering displaced Palestinian families. At least 40 people were killed, and over 60 were injured in the attack. The airstrikes left large craters, some as deep as 9 meters, and buried many tents, making rescue operations challenging. The Israeli military stated that they were targeting a Hamas command and control center located within the humanitarian zone. This incident follows a series of airstrikes across Gaza, including attacks on residential buildings and other refugee camps, resulting in numerous civilian casualties, including children. Over 20 tents were completely destroyed in the Al-Mawasi attack, which involved at least five missiles.
