Nov 20, 2024, 05:02 PM
An Israeli airstrike on the Syrian city of Palmyra killed at least 68 people, including members of pro-Iranian militias, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The attack occurred on Wednesday at approximately 1:30 PM, targeting residential buildings and an industrial zone near archaeological sites in central Syria. Syrian state media reported that over 50 people were wounded in the strikes, which came from the direction of the Al-Tanf area. The death toll has risen steadily since initial reports, with some sources indicating up to 71 fatalities. Among the dead were four Hezbollah members, 22 non-Syrian nationals, and fighters from Iraqi and Lebanese factions allied with Iran. The strikes reportedly targeted three locations, including positions associated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and a meeting of militia leaders from Hezbollah and the Iraqi Al-Nujaba movement. Israeli authorities have not commented on the incident.
