VisitIsrael Thwarts IRGC's Attempt to Arm Jenin Terrorists with Advanced Rockets
Nov 27, 2024, 12:04 PM
Israeli security forces, including the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet security agency, have recently thwarted attempts to smuggle advanced weapons originating from Iran into the West Bank, also known as Judea and Samaria. The smuggling operations were intended to arm terrorist operatives in areas such as Jenin and were orchestrated by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), specifically the 4000th Division led by Jawad Ghafari and the Quds Force's Unit 840 commanded by Etsar Bakri. The seized weapons included 3 long-range 107mm rockets, 24 RPG-18 and RPG-22 rockets, 6 RPG-7 launchers, 33 improvised Claymore explosives, 40 standard large Claymore explosives, sniper rifles, and wireless activation systems for explosives. Additionally, Israeli authorities intercepted shipments containing 14 pistols and over 65 weapon parts, and arrested an Arab-Israeli woman who was en route to smuggle weapons to the West Bank. The West Bank-Jordan border remains a crucial arms supply route for Palestinian militias operating in the region. The successful interceptions highlight ongoing efforts by Iranian security forces to destabilize the area by supplying advanced weaponry to terrorist groups.
