Israel conducted a series of massive airstrikes overnight in the southern suburbs of Beirut, near Beirut airport, targeting Hezbollah commanders and facilities. The strikes also severed the main border crossing between Lebanon and Syria, which is reportedly used by Hezbollah to smuggle weapons. The attacks are believed to have targeted the heir apparent to Hezbollah's slain secretary general.
