VisitIsrael Strikes Hezbollah in Lebanon Amid 300 Rocket Attack Over Fuad Shukr
Aug 26, 2024, 10:00 AM
Israel launched a significant preemptive strike against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, involving over 100 fighter jets targeting approximately 270 sites. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) reported the destruction of thousands of Hezbollah rocket launchers and thwarted a major attack. Hezbollah responded by launching more than 300 rockets and drones towards Israel, marking the heaviest exchange of fire since the start of the Gaza conflict. The IDF stated that 90% of the targets struck were short-range rockets aimed at northern Israel. Hezbollah's attack was reportedly in retaliation for the killing of its senior commander, Fuad Shukr. During the exchange, Hezbollah launched 230 rockets and 20 drones. Despite the intense exchange, both sides have signaled a desire to avoid escalating into a full-scale war. The situation remains tense, with ongoing concerns about potential further conflict in the region.
